A Scottish quarter thisle merk of James VI of Scotland 1601-1604. The reverse is a thistle which is the symbol for James. On the obverse is a square shield with rampant lion. The inscription is IACOBVS.6.D.G.R.SCOTORVM on the obverse and REGEM IOVA PROTEGIT on the reverse. The diameter is 20mm and the weight is 1.02g. Spink 5499.
