Lead alloy plumb bob possibly Roman 43-1900AD. The object is drop shaped and has a central longitudinal perforation. The patina is white and the surfaces are damaged/dented. Similar to IOW-BAD5996. These are very difficult to date and could be much later. The length is 63mm, the width is 44mm thickness 44mm and the weight too heavy for scales.

Incomplete lead plumb bob or fishing weight of medieval date (c. 1100 - 1500 AD). The object is oblong in form, with facetted faces creating a lozenge-shaped section. There is a forked spur at the top of the object which is all that remains of the original suspension loop; the broken ends are worn. Decorated lead Medieval plumb-bob dating 1100-1500AD with zigzag & triple pellet decoration. The object could be associated with a reputedly ecclesiastical institution in the area called St. Claire's The site of St Claire's is unknown. It is well cast and nicely decorated and indicates that it is a relatively high status object. The length is 67mm, the width is 14mm and the depth 10mm.

A cast lead medieval pendant weight or plumb bob of medieval date (AD 1200-1500). The weight is lentoid, with concave-sides and a lozenge-shaped section. There is a perforated suspension loop at the apex of the weight. The sides of the weight have been decorated with a raised, linear design. This weight was perhaps used as a sinker for a net or as a plumb bob. Cf. Egan (1998), 310-11, fig.231A complete lead pendant weight). The metal is a mid-cream to red in colour with a smooth patina.
