Cast copper alloy handle from a tobacco jar lid, dating to the post medieval period. The handle is in the form of an alligator, decorated on both sides with scales. The feet of the alligator are stood on a oval platform which would have been mounted to the tobacco tin.

A wooden handle with copper alloy in between the two pieces of wood. It is held together with four rivets. The wood tapers to a point at the end which is furthest from the metal. Only a small amount of metal protrudes from where the wood has been broken.
