Lower end and bigger part of the socketed of a socketed hammer head, probably dating from the Late Bronze or Iron Ages, but could also be later. The top layer of the metal shows advanced stages corrosion and bronze disease and due to this state it is difficult to determine any marks of wear or use, decoration or date it more accurately. However, tools made from bronze such as this were common in the Late Bronze Age and rarer in the following Iron Age and Roman period. They were succeeded by tools made from iron.
