Early Roman cast copper-alloy zoomorphic Dragonesque brooch, incomplete as the tail is missing and also the pin. A crudely made example with angular edges, unlike most others this has a reversed 'S' shape. The reverse is flat with many parallel scratch marks which probably derive from the movement of the pin. The obverse is decorated with a 'Celtic-style' moulded decoration and there are circles in relief on each 'dragon's head', mimicking an eye and a smaller nostril. Complete copper alloy terret ring dating from the early Roman period, probably 1st-2nd century AD. The terret is formed of a large oval loop with an oval section and a much smaller integral rectangular loop below through which the strap would have run. The terret does not seem very worn: all surfaces are very smooth and there is not much wear on the inside of the oval ring. An incomplete cast copper alloy Romano-British one-piece Colchester type brooch. Behind the flat rectangular wings is a copper alloy spring with four surviving coils. The other half of the coils and the pin are missing. On top of the head is a forward facing hook to secure the spring. The plain bow is hexagonal in section and tapers to a plain pointed foot. Cast cu-alloy headstud brooch dating to the Early Roman period. The brooch is almost complete and in very good condition with only the spring and pin missing. Perhaps a fragment of a Roman Ligula 1st to 4th century AD. It was used for extracting ointment, balsams, and powders from tubes and boxes. The ligula is not, strictly speaking, a surgical instrument, although it was used by physicians for applying medicament to affected areas on the body. The object is bent over to a point before tapering, flattening and terminating. Possibly used by a surgeon or for mixing paint or cosmetics. Similar to LANCUM-BC7F31. The object could as an alternative be a later Medieval brooch pin. The diameter is 80mm, thickness 4mm and the weight is 8g.

Cast copper alloy Headstud type bow brooch dating from c.70 through to the late 2nd century. The brooch is mostly complete although the catchplate and pin are missing and the headloop has broken off. It is a hinged type and the top of the pin is still present. The wings are broken at the ends but would have had square ends. They have moulded steps from the centre to the end. It also has two small loops which are set opposite each other at the rim of the dome. Probably a fragment of cast copper alloy Roman headstud brooch (75-175 AD). Only the bow of the brooch survives below the head survives. It is sub triangular in section with what would have originally have been bright blue enamel lozenges along the apex . The recess for the headstud is intact and it would have been attached by a rivet. At the base, the foot is missing. A concave recess suggests that this was also a separate stud which is now missing. The catch plate and the base of the bow are missing. The length is 22mm and the thickness12mm.

Perhaps a fragment of a Roman Ligula 1st to 4th century AD. It was used for extracting ointment, balsams, and powders from tubes and boxes. The ligula is not, strictly speaking, a surgical instrument, although it was used by physicians for applying medicament to affected areas on the body. The object is bent over to a point before tapering, flattening and terminating. Possibly used by a surgeon or for mixing paint or cosmetics. Similar to LANCUM-BC7F31. The object could as an alternative be a later Medieval brooch pin. The length is 70mm and width 5mm.

Extremely corroded bow and head fragment of a Roman trumpet brooch dating from the early Roman period, i.e. c. AD75-175. The brooch has lots its foot, half its bow, the spring and pin. The remaining part of the bow still retains, however, the typical trumpet-shaped head, the petal-and-reel (or acanthus-leaf) decoration in the top centre of the bow. Cast cu-alloy handle, possibly of a Roman chafing dish - however, this identification must remain doubtful. The handle is a perfect circle, 35x36mm outer diameter, 21mm inner diameter and 6-24mm height. It is decorated on the outside with what looks like a crouching animal, e.g. a fish (sturgeon?) or a dragon/snake-like creature. It is quite possible that it is of a 19th century dish. It should be mentioned here that exactly the same artefact was found in the Fylde area.

A complete copper-alloy Roman penannular brooch dating from c. AD43-410. The brooch frame is complete and survives in an excellent condition, with a pitted but high shine patina which has worn under the pin loop, giving it a brassy appearance. Both terminals survive, both culminates in round knops, decorated with incised lines, arranged in a spiral formation. Large Romano-British button and loop fastener of the double-headed variant. Ring, plano-convex in section, single incised line circumscribes edge towards back. Symmetrically opposed moulded ridges with inscribed circles either side produce two zoomorphic 'faces' on the ring. Shank is split with terminating rectangular plate behind which is a strap-bar. The rectangular plate is decorated on its front upper edge with a meander pattern, the bottom edge has a single incised line.

"It does not have any enamel decoration, unless the stud originally held some. The wings are step grooved in the usual Headstud manner", but without the knurling on alternative ribs. Small Roman Trumpet type brooch. Pierced lug at the back of the oval head which is bent sharply backwards. Projection at the top of the head. Spring gear and pin missing. Triple moulded waist bead extends around the back of the bow but is flattened at the back. The detail of the moulding is lost due to wear. Straight slightly tapering leg. Triangular catchplate complete. Flattened bead moulding at foot.

Bronze Roman nail cleaner with lugs sub-group B. Broad head with loop at same plane as the blade. The loop is mostly missing but there is a projecting lip to either side at its base. One side of the top of the head is incised with an X. The tapering blade ends in a scoop that is split. At the back a central groove extends for the length of the narrow portion of the blade.

Three fragments of a copper-alloy enamelled vessel in shape of a cockerel. The pieces remaining are the lower part of the body, a large fragment of the upper body (wing) and the neck and head. The legs and feet are missing. The fragment of the upper body was the lid for the vessel, the hollow body of the cockerel (the lower part) the container of the vessel.
