Lithic implement, probably a knife or scraper. It was knapped from light grey speckled flint and is hardly patinated. The dorsal face shows several large facets while the ventral face shows numerous waves/ripples. There are retouch marks forming a very ragged edge all around the edges on both the ventral and dorsal faces, although they are slightly more pronounced on the dorsal face.

Complete 'D' shaped scraper knapped from grey black flint and dating from the late Neolithic period 2500-2100BC, possibly a Riley Type 5 (Bond, C. Plate 5.112 and 5.113). The scraper is complete, made from a short, round flake with retouch along the total distal and halfway up the two mesial edges. Both the ventral and dorsal faces are very smooth with even ripple marks. Scrapers could have many uses from scraping the fat off animal skins, to scraping the bark off arrow shafts. The length is 42mm, width 34mm, thickness 6mm and the weight is 14.21g.

Very small stone axe, probably dating from the Late Neolithic period, i.e. c. 2500-2100 BC. The axe is knapped from a dark grey buff (probably) volcanic tuff or possibly a softer material, i.e. sandstone. The axe is roughly triangular in shape with a straight and unworked blade (although that is difficult to determine because the surface is very worn) and long, shaped side facets. All surfaces are very worn and it is difficult to ascertain what wear marks are older and which are more recent. The material seems quite soft and (possibly) unusual for making a stone axe since even narrower…

Small piece of worked flint, very probably a small piece of debitage dating from the late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, i.e. 2500-1500BC, possibly earlier (exact dating of stray finds of flint debitage is very difficult). The piece is small and can be compared to pieces of flint and chert debitage from Anglezarke Moor in Lancashire which was a well-known seasonal flint-working site throughout the Stone and Bronze Age. This flint is of white colour and it is not opaque or translucent. The white colour either suggests that the waste flake either suffered from extreme heat at some point…

Late Neolithic stone axehead of Langdale Type, finished and polished. It has a curved cutting edge and slightly tapering sides to a thin, broad butt which shows some damage (cracks and dents) on the smooth, polished surface, resembling a cracked egg shell. The axe was made from dark/light grey/beige stone, probably a fine-grained volcanic tuff from Great Langdale but lacking the characteristic facets down its sides. Compared to other Langdale axes, at only about 13.5cms it is a fairly short example of that type.

A polished stone axehead, which is complete and dates to the neolithic period. The axe is oval in section with a rounded tapering butt, which has slight pre-depositional damage. The cutting edge of the axe is flat though it does taper slightly and has rounded edges. From the butt end to the cutting end of the axe it tapers, (64mm to 35mm), with a maximum thickness of 31mm. There is evidence on the cutting edge of flaking and damage which is pre-depositional in appearence. The sides of the axe are squared, with concave faces (both front and back). The axeheads polish is very well preserved.

Honey brown flint pebble with multiple removals. It has either been used as a source for microliths or it is a tool or core that was abandoned due to excessive fracturing. Mid Mesolithic to early Bronze Age in date (c6500 to c1500 BC). The length is 27mm, width 16mm, thickness 11mm, and the weight is 7.6g. Leaf-shaped Neolithic flint knife or oval side scraper dating from c. 3000-2100BC. This object appears to have been bifacially flaked suggesting that it is a knife. However, we do not have a side view for this object (only two images were provided by the finder) so we cannot be certain. It looks to have pressure flaking on dorsal side. It was probably formed on tertiary debitage rather than a deliberate stuck core.

A complete though probably unfinished stone axehead probably a roughout of Neolithic date, c. 3500 - 2100 BC discovered below the foundations of a cottage garden wall. The axehead is possibly of the Graig Lwyd Group VII axe - the patina looks the type and the white speckles on a blue-grey matrix is typical of the rock type or it could be an epidiotised greenstone Group VI Langdale axe. The axe head is trapezoidal in plan with a pointed ovate section. The surfaces are rough with a chip to one side of the butt edge. A flint thumb-nail scraper of very late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age date c.2400-2100 BC. The flint is sub-rounded save for the striking platform edge. It has has short scaled abrupt retouch around the entirety of the rounded edges. The ventral face has been heavily rework to flatten the bulb of percussion with long invasive low angled retouch. Almost all the striking appears to be with heavy hammer technology. The scraper is a limid reddish yellow with mottling possibly from being exposed. The length is 27mm, the width is 14mm, thickness 13mm and the weight 3.77g.

Probably a copper axe of simple form dating to the Chalcolithic (Copper Age) also known as the very early Bronze Age 2,400 to 2,100 BC often called the Beaker period. The axe has a slight crescent profile with a rounded narrow tapering butt which expands and curves gradually, flaring after the centre to the blade end. The blade is rounded measuring 42mm wide by 2mm thick. The width of the axe tapers gradually from the blade at the squared-off proximal (attachment) end and the maximum thickness of the object is towards the centre. Both surfaces are slightly convex. Flint flake end scraper of probable Neolithic to Bronze Age date (c. 3500 - 800 BC). The flint is dark brown in colour with slight light brown mottles. It is broadly trapezoidal in shape, with one straight and one curved long edge. The longer short edge displays short, semi-abrupt, scaled retouch on the dorsal face. The ripples of percussion on the ventral face curve across the length of the object. The object is 22.50mm in length, 14.02mm in width and 4.53mm in thickness. It weighs 1.70g.

Late Neolithic to early Bronze Age grey brown flint thumbnail scraper fabricated from a tertiary flake. The scraping edge has been formed with semi-invasive, sub-parallel, semi-abrubt removals along the curved edge. A small gouge or burin has also been fashioned on one of the 'corners' of the flake. Dates to between c2700 to c1600 BC. Length 30mm, width 22mm, thickness 3.5mm, weight 4.80g.
