Stone ring found in the River Ribble by a metal detector user, but as an 'eyes only' find. The finder describes the river as being particularly low at the time of his discovery due to hot weather.The tint and location could both suggest the object to be of Limestone. An incomplete cast copper alloy Romano-British one-piece Colchester type brooch. Behind the flat rectangular wings is a copper alloy spring with four surviving coils. The other half of the coils and the pin are missing. On top of the head is a forward facing hook to secure the spring. The plain bow is hexagonal in section and tapers to a plain pointed foot. The long catchplate is incomplete at the bottom and has two surviving rectangular perforations. The surviving length of the catchplate is 17.8mm and the width is 13.6mm.
