Post medieval quartered coin, silver plated over a copper alloy core, a shilling or sixpence of the standard 'Commonwealth' type, probably intentionally broken. It appears to be a forgery with a silver wash/alloy over a copper alloy. The initial mark would have been a sun, the obverse legend should read THE COMMONWEALTH OF ENGLAND and on the reverse it should read GOD WITH US 1656.
