A large lead weight of unknown date. The dome-shaped weight has a small circular perforation through the top, which increases in size at the base. The weight is crudely made and has sustained plough damage on one side. The length is 23.9mm, the diameter of the base is 37.9mm and the weight is 150.49g.

A lead object, probably a weight. It has two circular faces one of which is flat and has two incised lines and an indented dot in the center, the second face is slightly concave. The first face (diameter 15mm) tapers out to the larger face (diameter 22mm)and the circumference is rough with raised vertical lines running from one face to the other.

Roman to Post Medieval bell shaped lead-alloy or lead suspended weight. At the apex of the 'bell' are the remnants of the trapped iron suspension loop. Hard to date with any precision but it probably dates to between c43 and c1750 AD. The height is 39mm, diameter is 26mm and the weight is 104.52g. A lead alloy pyramidal standing weight of unknown date, about AD 43 - 1800. The weight has a rounded square base, and flat triangular sides, tapering to a blunt point at the apex. There is a rectangular hole through the top of the weight. The base is concave, caused by the lead shrinking as it cooled after casting. A complete circular biconical cast lead-alloy weight, probaby a spindle whorl dating from the Roman period judging by the form and grey patina, i.e. AD72-410. The lead weight is biconical in cross-section with a rounded base and top. It is decorated with a simple pattern of a rough chevrons. The weight is 28mm in diameter and weighs 23.5g. Several lead-alloy weights of different sizes and shapes (see attached picture). They were all found in the same corner of a field, but did not form part of a hoard. They almost certainly date from different periods from Late Roman to the Medieval Ages, were home-made and may have been used as spindle whorls, net sinkers, gaming pieces weights for traps or as part of weighing equipment. It is difficult to attribute an exact date to the individual weights. Many thanks to the finders for supplying the attached picture.
