A body sherd of probably medieval pottery from a ceramic vessel. The sherd is 87.18mm long, 57.5mm wide and 9.3mm thick. It is an orange coloured fabric with dull black angular inclusions, especially on the outer surface. There are also smaller white inclusions and some mica or quartz. The fabric is hard, rough and hackly. It is wheel turned. There is no glazing. This sherd is probably from a medieval pot, but only an expert with knowledge of local pottery types could determine the ware and exact date.

Small vessel fragment probably dating from the medieval or early post-medieval period, i.e. c. AD1400-1700. The vessel was made from light skin-coloured earthenware and it seems to have had a greenish or yellowish glaze on the obverse. The glaze is very worn and only the light-coloured slip between glaze and vessel body can be seen still in some places. The fabric must have been tempered with very fine quartzite sand as it is very soft to the touch. There are finger marks on the inside and it is likely that this is a fragment of medieval green-glazed jug.

Small vessel sherd dating from the medieval or early post-medieval period, i.e. c. AD1500-1700. The sherd is of small size, but well preserved. It was made from light-colour red/orangey earthenware, but the surface is very worn and it is difficult to ascertain whether or not it had been glazed. It is, however, likely that it was. The fabric is not very fine, but it does not show many inclusions except some small larger fragment of quartzite. The sherd is somewhat similar in make and fabric to LANCUM-9898E2, but they most certainly do not come from the same vessel.

Small wall sherd, very worn, probably from a medieval cooking pot dating from the 11th to 14th century. The vessel was made from dark grey or black eartheware and coated with a thick light-grey slip. There are only smaller and medium-size inclusions (quartzine and possibly organic). The outside looks sponged and seems to have displayed a very basic, rough decoration. It may have come an eartheware casserole dish for making broths or stews.
