An incomplete cast copper alloy pipe tamper, of Post Medieval dating (18th Century AD). The pipe tamper is irregular in plan and profile. Approximately 50% of the tamper is present, comprising the handle. The base of the tamper is missing. The tamper depicts an erotic scene. The scene consists of a standing couple, probably engaged in sexual intercourse. The two figures are positioned facing each other. Cast cu-alloy pipe tamper dating from the later post-medieval or early modern period, i.e. c. 1700-1900. It is complete and in good condition, depicting a standing, classically draped female with a naked child crouching by her feet, holding on to the hem of her dress. The woman also displays a classical hairdo and although the child does not show any wings, it is possible that these two are the Roman goddess of love and beauty, Venus, and her son, the winged child Cupid.

Post Medieval copper alloy ring pipe tamper with a roughly circular bezel that was probably originally engraved as a seal matrix or signet.On the opposite side of the ring to the bezel is a collared projection from which the screw on tamper and lower section of the reamer are missing.This style of pipe tamper denerally dates from the second half of the 17th century, but this one could date to anytime between c1650 and c1800 AD. The finger ring element is slightly distorted and cracked, while the main body of the tamper is missing, with only a circular section stub remaining. Probably 17th century in date. The length is 32mm, the width is 25mm and the weight 6.62g.

A complete cast copper-alloy post-medieval pipe tamper, dating to the period AD c.1700-c.1900. The lower part of the object consists of a circular plate radiating outwards from the standing foot, culminating in a flat base. This base would be used for tamping down the tobacco in the bowl of a pipe as it is being packed, as well as for crushing the ash together to aid relighting. The object has a brown patina.The length is 24mm, diameter is 22mm and the weight 9.14g.

A lead-alloy unidentified object, possibly a pipe tamper or a swivel probably of later medieval or post-medieval date, c. 1400-1800. Both the obverse and reverse show moulded decoration: a man and a woman in front view on one side and a single man on the other, with a column or some kind of background hatching completing the space. None of the figures have heads and it is difficult to say if they are missing due to damage ot miscasting. They figures are nude and do not appear to have feet. They are standing on a pedestal or surface with only the swivel point/lug below.

A Post Medieval cast copper alloy pipe tamper in the shape of a hand. The object is cylindrical with two ridges before both the terminal end (which is flared and circular, the underside of which is ridged and marked in a grid pattern), and the top end. The top end is decorated with an open human hand, the littlest finger or which is missing. The width of the shaft is approx. 7mm, the tamper end is 14mm and the hand is 19mm. A moulded copper alloy pipe tamper. It comprises a near circle with a stem under it. The stem is approximately half of the total length, and widens at the base, with a moulded in split line which forms a 'bun' like feature. It narrows progressively upwards, and under the circle than widens into a round knop. The circle is hollow, sub-rectangular inside and almost hexagonal outside, rather then being a true circle, and is not completely symmetrical. Cast cu-alloy pipe tamper dating from the early modern period, probably around 1800-1900. The pipe tamper is generally in good condition with a bright gold patina and only very small patches of corrosion. The surface is rough to the touch and looks worn. The pipe tamper handle depicts a gentleman in late 18th/early 19th century attire and hat resembling images of the older Napoleon Bonaparte (which it might well be!).
