Cast cu-alloy shoe-buckle, probably dating from the 17th/18th century. The buckle frame is roughly square with long separate semi-circular terminals at both loops and rectangular mouldings in the centre of the upper and lower cross bars. While the frame was made from a very tinny cu-alloy (the metal is of light grey colour), the pin was made from wrought iron. A thick layer of iron rust/residue remains around the central spindle where the pin would have been.

Post Medieval copper alloy and iron buckle. The buckle frame is sub-rectangular to sub-annular in plan with rounded ends, and curved in longitudinal section with the decorated outer face being convex face. The decoration consists of moulded rosettes (four large and four small) linked by sprigs of leaves. The frame has been drilled to accommodate the spindle for the iron pitchfork tongue. Only one of the spikes is left of the corroded tongue. Dates from c1720 to c1790 AD. The length is 68mm, width 61mm, and the weight 18.46g

Lead belt buckle dating to the post medieval period. The buckle in rectangular in shape, with concave sides, in the corners are four flowers all with nine petals. Inside the first concave rectangle (outer) is a further rectangle made up of intertwinnig loop design, this is joined to the extenal rectangle at the edges, and also at midpoints with four petaled flowers. The central bar and pin are missing, although the lugs are still present on the back, with ironised remains in them suggesting the pin and bar were both iron.

Decoration consists of two cast parallel lines running the full length of the bar with multiple incised oblique grooves on the outer edge. there is also a centrally placed pin groove. Whitehead has this type of decoration on this type of buckle as late 15th to 16th century.

Post Medieval Georgian or modern silver buckle frame and tongue fragment. The countersunk decoration inside the border of the external face is a continuous zig zag motif. Remnants of a rather crude attachment indicate that the buckle may have been repaired at a later date & adapted into a brooch while retaining the original tongue. The rather worn hallmarks indicate it is Chester 1738 or 1913. Makers mark C.H. The absence of a duty mark doesn't aid with dating. The object is incomplete, only part of the pin is present attached to a wide strap bar but is in fair condition. There is a upstanding stud on one side of the buckle attached to a folded sheet plate. The loops are oval in form with a D-shaped cross-section which expands to a slight curved point on the outer edges of the frame. The length is 26mm, the width is 20mm and the weight 2.47g. The object is in fair condition and is cast copper alloy. It is rectangular garter buckle and has a double spiked tongue with a central plate attached to a supporting component, possibly what remains of the pin. The metal is very worn and has a brown-red patina. It is very similar to record PUBLIC-C9CD30 and YORYM-023A51. A buckle of this type are Post Medieval and date to circa 1720-1790. Georgian two piece shoe buckle of cast copper alloy. It is rectangular in shape with rounded corners and has a moulded curvilinear line around the outer edge of the frame. The frame indents slightly towards the centre of the sides of the frame which is drilled for a separate spindle. It has a loop chape with two spikes and a pitchfork double tongue (Whitehead type VII) c.1720-1770. The frame and chape has a greenish patina, but there is orange rusting at the centre of the chape suggesting that the spindle is iron. The length is 53mm, the width is 50mm and the weight 16.94g.

It has a lozenge shaped knop with moulded lozenge on the outer edge of each loop and trefoil moulding at either end of the integral strap bar. The pin is missing. Whitehead (1996) illustrates an identical buckle on page 65, No.402, which is dated from c.1550-1650. It has a greenish patina. The length is 57mm, the width is 26mm and the weight 9.53g. Copper-alloy double-loop rectangular buckle of late medieval to post-medieval date (c. AD 1550 - 1700). The buckle takes the form of two rectangular loops either side of a central strap bar, which runs along the length of the loops. The buckle frame is rectangular in section. The pin is missing. The object is brown in colour, with patches of light green corrosion. The buckle is 23.18mm in length, 15.46mm in width and 1.79mm in thickness. It weighs 0.85g. See Whitehead (2003), Buckles, p. 75 for similar examples of this type of buckle.

Copper-alloy single-looped buckle of late medieval to early post-medieval date (c. AD 1500 - 1650), complete with iron pin. The buckle is broadly D-shaped, with a narrowed and inset strap bar and arms that bulge outwards at the corners and ends. It has a notched front with a convex oval on ovoid knop. Post Medieval (c1660-1720), cast copper alloy, trapezoidal shoe, or knee, buckle with what appears to be remnants of a white metal coating, probably tin decorated with moulded transverse ridges or scrolls around the spindle holes. The spindle is absent. The buckle is similar in type to No.610 & 611 (Buckles 1250-1800; Ross Whitehead). The length is 36mm and the width is 22mm.

An incomplete copper alloy Post medieval double loop asymmetrical buckle dating from c.1575-1700, missing the iron pin. One loop is rectangular shaped, and the other is D shaped now broken. The inside and outside edges are bevelled. The iron pin is missing but some residue remains. The buckle is a dark brown colour. The length is 23mm, the width is 21mm and the weight 0.96g. An incomplete post-medieval copper-alloy sub-annular buckle frame with central bar, creating two loops. It is missing a pin. The frame is oval in shape and triangular in cross-section, the underside being flat and the outside edge to the front convex. The central bar is rectangular in cross-section, being taller than it is wide. The length is 42mm, the width is 33mm and the weight 6.46g. Whitehead has published similar buckles (Whitehead 2003, 48) for which he suggests the date 1650-1720.

Cast tinned copper alloy asymmetrical double-loop buckle dating 1575 - 1700AD. The frame has one rectangular and one D-shaped loop now broken. The front face of the frame is decorated with moulded rosettes either end of the integral strap bar, which is narrowed, and a larger moulded rosette on the cusp of the rounded loop framed by two moulded scrolls. Slightly damaged cast copper alloy spectacle or double-loop oval buckle frame that is plano-convex in section with a bevelled inner edge and a recessed pin bar with moulded knops at either end of the bar. The pin is still present. There appears to be traces of black lacquer on parts of the upper face of the frame where some of the original surface remains. The central strap fitting is still present, folded around the spindle. Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar example on page 54, No.308, which is dated from c.1500-1650.

A complete cast copper alloy double looped buckle of post-medieval date. The object is a sub-annular shoe or knee buckle. The sides are sub-square with moulded roundels and the pin survives fixed around the strap bar. The metal has a mid greyish-green patina and survives in good condition. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.49, no.286 and is dated circa AD 1550 - 1650. The diameter is 47mm and the weight 19.50g.
