Copper alloy double looped buckle, with no decoration, and with missing pin, possibly dating to the post medieval period. Lobed (rounded) knops either end of the strap bar which is narrowed and slightly recessed from the front edge of the frame. On the loops there are two lobed knops at symetical points on each of the loops.

Cast copper alloy single loop sub rectangular buckle, with the pin intact. The pin is looped over the pin bar, and tappers slightly to a rounded point. The frame is slightly thicker on the opposite side to where the pin is attached. Probably medieval.

Lead belt buckle dating to the post medieval period. The buckle in rectangular in shape, with concave sides, in the corners are four flowers all with nine petals. Inside the first concave rectangle (outer) is a further rectangle made up of intertwinnig loop design, this is joined to the extenal rectangle at the edges, and also at midpoints with four petaled flowers. The central bar and pin are missing, although the lugs are still present on the back, with ironised remains in them suggesting the pin and bar were both iron.

Cast cu-alloy buckle with central bar dating from the early post-medieval period, i.e. c. AD1630-1650. Frame still intact; pin missing. The frame is composed of one oval and one rectangular loop. The outside of the oval loop bears two decorative knops int he 'corners' and there is a row of ornamental knops down the vertical bar of the rectangular loop. Cast cu-alloy buckle frame with spindle, pin and tongue still intact, dating from the late post-medieval/early modern period, i.e. AD1660-1720. The buckle frame has expanded, angled ends each with two moulded grooves. Iron corrosion around the spindle suggests it was made from iron. Pin and tongue chape were made from cast cu-alloy. Cast copper alloy pitchfork tongue from a shoe buckle. This example is Georgian dating to the eighteenth century (1720-1770) when large sized shoe buckles were secured by this tongue and a chape with two internal spikes (Whitehead 2003 page 103).

The spindle (missing now) ran lengthways and probably fitted with multiple stud chape and multiple tongues (so it could hold a fairly light fabric).
