Lead seal possibly used to seal bags of grain dating to the 19th to early 20th century probably originally bearing the name of the processor. This is a very common find on farmland. Lead seals of this type vary in size and the design impression is usually week. Some seals carry bust of monarchs and these were known as Alnage seals and were attached to rolls of cloth. The diameter is 30mm and the weight 25.21g.

This object is probably a cast lead token. The earlier tokens were made from pewter but the lead tokens are normally associated with the 17th – 18th centuries. The exact purpose has not been ascertained but it seems most likely that they were used by the working class as a form of low denomination currency as they were made at a time when small change was in short supply. Post Medieval bag or sack seal made from cast lead. The obverse is decorated with crossed keys within an encompassing concentric circle. There is a small quatrefoil or four-petalled clover leaf between the crossed shanks of the keys. The reverse is plain.

Post Medieval lead or lead alloy bale or bag seal. The seal is circular in plan, with a flat front and back and slightly rounded edges. Two rectangular perforations pass through the thickness of the seal. There is design on both sides, on one side shield and cross design in centre and the other side is looks like a cross with dots although it is difficult to make out. This is possibly french. Dates to between c1500 and c1750 AD. Diameter 18mm, thickness 6mm, and weight 12.35g.

Lead seal, possibly originating from a bale of heckled flax from St Petersburg in Russia. These seals were attached to the bales that were imported into Britain and were eventually thrown out with the woody part of the stem to be mixed with night soil removed from the openb streets or with manure and sold to local farmers as fertliser or to treat the land.

Cast lead seal. Post-Medieval 16th-18th century in date. The obverse relief decoration depicts crossed keys within an encompassing concentric circle. The keys cross at the centre of the decoration which in turn create quadrants and there is a number 2 between the two shanks and an 'x' in the opposite quarter. The reverse of the object is plain except for an inconspicuous central ridge from one side to the other.

An incomplete Hungarian lead alloy flour bag seal that dates to c.AD 1891-1950. The seal is formed of a circular disc with two hole penetrating the side to allow for string to threaded in order to tie a bag. The front face shows the figure 0 in a triangle of wheat ears with MT around. The 0 refers to the grade of flour. Around the sides of the triangle there appear to be letters; 'M' and 'T'. The reverse has a raised inscription which reads PESTI / HENGER / MALOM. Pesti Hengermalom translates to translates as 'Pest Roller Mill' and was created in 1839/1841, making it the earliest…
