Cast lead-alloy pilgrim's souvenir or ampulla dating from the later medieval period, i.e. c. 15th-16th century. The ampulla is complete with a circular main body and a funnel/triangular-shaped neck and top. The ampulla carries moulded decoration: an elaborate fleur-de-lis on one side and a crowned (?)flower with stylised lateral foliage on the other side. These motifs are partially obscured by a near-central, neat circular hole, apparently pierced from each side in turn.

Probably a cast lead alloy ampulla of the Medieval period. The object is plain, with no evidence of decoration. The object is mostly complete, however some breakage at the top of the object is evident. The ampulla is slightly wasted with the remains of the lug on one side. The length is 73mm, the width is 41mm and the weight 171.73g. Similar objects are seen in records SF-437871, SOM-C60D70 and WMID-84363B.

A cast lead ampulla of Medieval date 1350 to 1530AD. Most of the top is now missing broken in a jagged diagonal line from the neck to the bottom, but it would have been pouch-shaped with an elongated neck and oval shaped opening. There are no suspension loops. There does not appear to be any decoration but it may have worn off through post-depositional damage. There are possibly traces of an iron loop inside the flask. An incomplete and slightly twisted medieval lead ampulla, dating to the period AD 1350-1530. It is incomplete insofar as the very top of the ampulla appears to have broken off unevenly on one side. A lead-alloy pilgrim's ampulla. The body is rounded and has no visible decorationon either side. Both handles are missing and the top has been broken off. What remains of the neck had been heavily damaged, pinched shut and folded in some places. Ampulla are known from the late 12th century as a popuar way of carrying a blessed item, in this case water, upon the person. Pilgrim badges in the early 14th century began to perform a similar function, but the use of ampullae is thought to have continued in use to the end of the 15th century.
