The group consists of three silver Roman Republican coins of a denomination known as denarii (sing. denarius). The latest fully legible coin dates to many years before the establishment of Roman Britain. However, we know from larger coin hoard groups that Republican denarii, which had been produced over the previous two centuries, formed a substantial portion of the coin circulation throughout the first century AD.
