Small pen-nib shaped object made from a triangular piece of gold sheet which was curled at the top. The top of the reverse is coated with an unknown white residue/incrustation and both surfaces have been 'decorated' with an assymmetrical crisscross pattern.
The artefact has been identified as the terminal of a Roman snake bracelet (2006/T269), but the identification is questionable. The finder donated the find to the Museum of Lancashire.

~~Gold hat badge, made of a thin layer of gold embossed and chased so as to represent a scene with figures in a landscape. At left, a large reclining male figure with a beard, wearing classical armour and greaves, who holds up a shield. Behind him, tents on a rocky crag. At right the striding figure of a young boy in a tunic, originally holding something in each hand, possibly a stone on a sling. The thin gold relief is damaged and now only comprises the lower two thirds of the object, pierced and broken in several places and with most of its upper background missing. There are traces…

Bracelet 1
A complete and well crafted penannular bracelet with a band of thin, āCā section. The section is, however, thickest at the centre, thinner, rounded and highly polished along the edges. The band tapers gently towards the squared off terminals, which are defined by a narrow beading created by turning the metal outward slightly.
The bracelet has many dents and scratches visible under magnification. Slight compression of the band around the middle has caused limited distortion and misalignment of the terminals. One of the latter is damaged by a small nick.
