Late Bronze Age socketed axe of 'Yorkshire' Type. The axe has one large mouth moulding, the socketed being of rectangular shape, aligned with the short blade. Both faces are decorated with three narrow, short ribs, all of which 'hang' from a similarly narrow lower mouth moulding/horizontal rib. The loop is small and not splayed and the sides of the axe almost parallel, terminating in an almost straight blades which shows resharpening marks and signs of wear, prehistoric as well as more recent. An extremely rare and important Chalcolithic tanged copper dagger dated by XREF analysis to the early Bronze Age 2400 -2,100BC. Most examples occur in early Beaker 'classic' grave assemblages associated with low-carinated Beakers, wrist guards, etc. The dagger is composed of a blade and hilt plate and there is no obvious break at the end of the hilt plate. The hilt plate would have been of organic material, probably wood, horn or antler. The blade is roughly triangular-shaped and tapers towards the tip. Bronze Age palstave axe dating from the Wilburton or Penard phases, c.1300-1000 BC. It is mostly complete although the upper part is so worn that no flanges remain and it ends in a rounded point. The stop is still visible on both sides although one side is much more worn than the other. Below the stop on the least worn side, 3 raised vertical ribs can be seen. Cast cu-alloy socketed axe dating from the Late Bronze Age, i.e. c. 1000-800BC. The axe is complete and in very good condition with a chocolate-brown patina and a smooth surface. There is only some bronze disease on the inside of the socket. An area of corrosion mixed with soil is on the inside of the socket: it cannot be removed. The axe has a small loop at one side. Cast cu-alloy flanged axe dating from the Middle Bronze Age, i.e. ca. 1400-1250 BC. This flanged axe is part of the Taunton metalwork assemblage, when winged axes are more common in Northern England. There is a lozenge/oval shaped flange on each side of the butt end. The outer side of each flange is slightly convex, resulting in the gap between the flange crests narrowing at the top above the septum. Probably a large fragment of a miscast spearhead dating from the Middle or Later Bronze Age, i.e. c. 1250-800BC. Only the miscast socket remains and it is not certain if the spearhead was ever cast complete. The fragment is wider at the base and narrows towards the top, before flaring out again slightly at the very top. There is a hole in one side and a curved break on the edge of the socket, but there is no evidence of peg holes. It is likely that this is a fragment of a cu-alloy 'cake', ie the cu-alloy residue left over from the smelting process. This would then be broken into smaller pieces that various different artefacts can be cast from. Cake fragments such as this are a rare find for North West England. They are much more common in East Anglia as both single finds and in Late Bronze Age metalwork hoards. Dimensions: length: 42mm, width: 29mm, thickness: 22mm and weight: 86.24g.

Unidentified object or casting waste, possibly Late Bronze Age c. 1000-800BC. Object is long and narrow and has two distinct parts, this caused by corrosion. The forepart is tapered slightly and has a knob on the tip, whilst the hindpart looks to be square with a hole in the middle which does not go throught to the front of the object. These two parts are connected by a narrow bridge of metal. Dimensions: length: 40mm, width: 12mm, thickness: 7mm and weight: 9.15g.

An incomplete cast copper alloy sword dating from the Late Bronze Age, i.e. ca. 1000-800BC. Only the lower part of the blade and tip remain. The surface is smooth and the edge of the sword bevelled. There is a very slightly ridge along the centre of the blade and the cross-section is a rounded diamond-shape. The sword probably belonged to the Ewart Park metalwork assemblage or possibly the earlier Wilburton metalwork assemblage, but it is impossible to date it any more closely without the hilt present. Dimensions: lenght: 177mm, width: 34mm, thickness: 4mm and weight: 128.71g.

A copper object, made from circular-section wire which tapers from about 6mm in diameter at a blunt, squared-off wider end to about 4mm immediately below, then gently tapers to c. 3mm at the curve. It curves around a little over 180 degrees to form a hook which measures in total c. 42mm long by 24mm wide. The tip is pointed and has no barb; there is no hole or eye for attachment at the blunt end. Solid cast cu-alloy ring, possibly dating from the Later Bronze or Iron Age or the Roman period, i.e. c. 1000BC-AD410. The ring is simple without any decoration. It was cast in a two-piece mould and not made from a bent cu-alloy rod. The surface is very smooth and the file marks from the filing of the inner casting seam are almost obliterated. There are no longer any indications of casting seams or file marks on the outside.
