Spherical cobalt blue glass bead. Probably post-med. Chipped in many places. Hole through centre is not completely central, and is slightly mishapen on one side. Hand made. Traces of metal on the inside of the hole suggest manufacture method may have been by winding glass around a metal wire. Or it may have been strung on a wire during use.

Very small blue faceted glass bead probably dating from the post-medieval or early modern period, i.e. c. AD1600-1900. Even though faceted beads were used in Roman and medieval times, the glass is of a shade of blue which is too bright. Furthermore, the good quality of the glass and workmanship suggest that this bead was made with modern tools or even by machine.
