Object type: GAMING PIECE
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL

A sub-square lead alloy gaming piece, token or possible weight. It is rhomboid in shape although it was probably intended to be square. At each corner is an upstanding 'knop' cutting the diagonal of the corner to about a quarter of its length. Running across the face from these are two parallel lines etched into the lead alloy. The bottom of the artefact is flat, it has an even mid grey patina.

A cast lead alloy cat. It is a plump, contented cat in the seated position. The back of the model is quite crude although the features of the hip and leg are present, but the face is well moulded. It has been painted yellow. It seems to be a bred, domesticated cat and this is therefore probably a model of a twentieth century cat. The finder notes that the base is possibly damaged and it may have sat on a platform of some sort.

Object type: TOILET ARTICLE
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Lancashire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A probable scoop for cosmetic or toilet use. The material is uncertain but is probably lead alloy. It is formed of a short remnant of the shaft, which is triangular in section, the back being flat and the front having a ridge down the centre. It terminates in a wider, flattened circular section which is half the thickness of the shaft, and would scoop a small amount of power or similar. Like SWYOR-BFF380, there is not enough diagnostic material remaining to date but it may be Roman in period.

Post Medieval lead alloy shy cock in the shape of a cockerel. The flat figurine and it's thick oval base are a single cast piece. It is very slightly domed in the centre, and in this are some marks possibly from use as a palm guard. Lead alloy medallion or token reused as a dress or curtain weight. The lead alloy disc is pierced with two holes in the centre, but there is bold script around the edge. It reads JUBILEE and 1809. This was the year of the golden jubilee of George III and it is possible that this was a commemorative medal made for this occasion. On the other side of the medal is an image of a book and possibly of a cross, this might suggest that it was either a locallly made token for the kings jubilee or, more plausibly, a token made to commemorate the anniversay of a local church or similar organ…

She has her hair curled and held up, and wears a tiara of some sort on the front of her head.
