Probable copper alloy Roman patera dish. It is in two pieces which do join but wear on the faces would suggest that they have been separate for many years - they were approximately 50m from each other in one field. They are heavily patinated with some corrosion and the pattern that would have been on the inside is now largely obscured by this. There is a decoration of concentric circles in the inside of the base, and around top of the outside of the rim there has been a line of decoration with short lines dropping from this at intervals. A lead alloy probable vessel repair, (pot-mend), dating from the Roman to the Post-Medieval period, (AD43-1700). The object oval in plan. The object consists of one large side from which projects a smaller oval of lead. This would have passed through the hole in the vessel to secure the mend. A very small fragment of orange ceramic material can be seen within the join between each face of the object. The object has a creamy white patina.
