Late Early Medieval to early Post Medieval cast lead alloy weight. It is circular in plan, with a central perforation (diameter 10mm). It is bi-conical in section. Probably a spindle whorl or net weight. One side is decorated with diagonal raised rays emanating from the perforation with raised pellets between, and the other with multiple raised pellets. Late Early Medieval to early Post Medieval cast biconical lead weight. Probably a spindle whorl, loom weight, or net weight. It is circular in plan. It is undecorated. Without further context, is it not possible to closely date this lead weight. Though the colour of the patina suggests a Post Medieval alloy, it could date to anytime between c1000 and c1750 AD. Diameter of 33mm, perforation diameter 12mm. A cast lead spindle whorl probably dating from the Early Medieval to Medieval period, about AD 850 - 1100. The whorl is circular and has two flat faces of different sizes with curved sides, a shape which is classified as Walton Rogers form A2, thought to be in use in AD 600 - 1100. It has a circular central aperture of 9.5mm diameter. This size of spindle hole can suggest a Late Saxon date onwards. Post Medieval cast lead alloy spindle whorl. It has raised decoration on both faces. On the first face this takes the form of three debased letter, possibly THC, with a cross or quatrefoil to the left, and a symbol of the Trinity or trefoil to the right. Between these and opposite the lettering is a stylised heart. On the other face, a W has a pellet surrounded by a border to the left and a stylised clover leaf or trefoil to the right. Lead conical spindle whorl, probably dating to the early medieval period (c. AD 700 - 1000). The spindle whorl is crudely shaped and unsymmetrical; it is broadly circular in plan and triangular in section, with a circular, central perforation. The spindle whorl has a white patina. It is 16.75mm in diameter, 12.50mm in thickness and weighs 15.90g. The diameter of the central perforation is 8.94mm. The form of this object is similar to examples that have been recorded as early medieval in date. These include: SWYOR-6E4DAA, NLM-5EA8A8 and NLM-09370E.
