Obverse and reverse have been worn smooth and bent into an S shape for reuse as a love token. One side has been counterstamped with the word: HUNTER. Spink 3497-3519. An incomplete Roman copper alloy coin; a sestertius of Faustina I (AD 138-161), posthumous issue dating from AD 141-161 under Antoninus Pius (Reece period 7). Rome mint.The reverse shows a draped female figure standing facing left, holding a long torch, nearly vertical in right hand, and probably a palladium in the left hand. Both attributes appear to be full length. The figure is possibly Vesta. The edges of the coin are damaged. Dimensions: 27.7mm diameter, 4.1mm thick and 11.1g.
