Pierced and possibly clipped, post medieval silver hammered coin, an Elizabeth I threepence of 1563 AD (North 1998). The initial mark is worn but would have been a pheon. The obverse legend would have read as ELIZABETH DG ANG FRA ET HIB REGINA. The reverse legend would have read as POSVI DEV ADIVTOREM MEV. The diameter is 17mm and the weight 0.87g. If suspended from the piercing, neither the obverse nor the reverse would be upright. It is therefore highly unlikely to have been used as a pendant or ornament.
