An incomplete copper alloy buckle and hollow plate. A one piece moulding forms the loop and the front of the plate, another moulding is attached to form the underplate. The loop is non-symmetrical ovoid in plan, flattening along both long sides and has a 'frame' moulded in all the way around, but not at the plate. At this point the 'frame' continues around the plate. Medieval copper alloy asymmetrical double loop sub-oval buckle. It consists of an oval main loop with a pin notch on the outer lip, and a rectangular strap loop. The pin is absent. Similar in overall form to Whitehead's 538 and 539 (Whitehead, 1996, p87). Dates from between c1350 and c1450. The length is 40mm, width 39mm thickness 2mm, and the weight 7.03g.

Medieval copper alloy trapezoidal buckle. It is sub-square in plan, with a narrowed strap bar. There are three transverse grooves on the front edge of the outer face. The two outer grooves are half the length of the cental one, which was probably intended as the pin rest. The pin is now absent. The buckle shares similarities with Whitehead's No 136. Dates from c1350 to c1400 AD. Length 17mm, width 16mm, and weight 3.2g.

Broken copper-alloy medieval annular buckle (c. AD 1200 - 1500), missing its pin. The buckle has broken approximately in half. It has an oval section with bevelled edges. The broken ends are worn. There is a linear pin notch on one side. The object has a worn and chipped surface with a patchy brown and dark green patina. It is 26.69mm in diameter, 2.75mm in thickness and weighs 4.19g. Similar examples are recorded in Egan and Pritchard (1991) Dress Accessories, pp. 57 - 60. See also: Whitehead (2003) Buckles, p. 17.

The buckle frame is broadly D-shaped, with a prominent collared knop at the apex of curved end. One end of a square-sectioned blunt-ended pin is coiled around the strap bar. The object is dark brown in colour. It is 28.18mm in length, 19.30mm in width and 3.19mm in thickness. It weighs 2.89g. Late Medieval copper alloy single loop trapezoidal buckle frame. It is an asymmetric trapezoid in plan, with an expanded outer edge and a recessed strap bar. The front edge and sides of the buckle are bevelled, creating a convex side profile. The front edge has been decorated with four diagonal paired rows of impressed dots. The reverse of the buckle frame is concave and undecorated. The pin is absent. The buckle shares similarities with Whitehead's No.133 and No.167. Dates to between c1300 and c1500 AD. The buckle frame measures 26mm in length, 13mm wide, and weighs 3.28g.

TAn incomplete cast copper alloy oval, lipped and notched frame buckle dating to c AD1350 - 1450. It would originally have had a composite plate. The pin, the forks of the spacers and the plates are missing, leaving the stub of the spacer attached to the back of the frame. See Whitehead 2003 p36 no 213. The frame has a sheet metal roller. Shares similarities with no. 440 in Egan, G. and Pritchard, F., 1991 Dress Accessories, c.1150-c.1450 (Medieval Finds from Excavations in London) (1991) London : Stationery Office Books. Although this example is very large and may well be on the late side.
