Early to late Post Medieval silver bell. It is similar to those described as being used as hawking bells and dress accessories, but is probably too big to have served the former purpose well. Now squashed, it was constructed of sheet silver with an added suspension loop, now broken. A moulded 'sun burst' pattern radiates diagonally from around the suspension loop. A copper alloy swivel (LANCUM-D6B0CE) was found close by and the two objects may be associated. Suggested dates c1500 to c1900 AD.
