A broken copper alloy fixture or fitting probably of the post medieval period, AD 1500 - 1900. It comprises a bar of D shaped cross-section which is broken at one end. At the other end it bends backwards into a loop with the end of the bar butting against the back of the bar. The bar tapers towards the loop. It is undecorated with a green and brown patina. Dimensions are length 74.2mm; width 12.6mm; thickness 3.7mm; weight 23.53g. The function of this object is uncertain but it appears to be some type of fixture or fitting, perhaps a window hinge or the end of a tool handle or implement.

An almost complete copper alloy Roman brooch dating from AD 75 - 200, a Thealby Mine type, now classified as a headstud varient of Colchester derivative hinged type. It fits well into Mackreth's CD H 17.1b group, especially number 7456 on plate 66. The head of the brooch comprises tubular wings which act as a hinge mechanism. The handle is a broadly trapeziodal; wider at the base with rounded lower corners and narrowed at the top with a short straight upper edge. Originally thought to be a styca, closer inspection suggests that the visible part of the design is a crude forward facing figure, with a cross on the right, rather than the central cross and surrounding letters that would be expected on a styca. A probable piece of cast copper alloy waste; a casting well of unknown date. The remnant would have been from the funnel shaped neck of a mould. Consequently, the waste itself is funnel shaped, sub-conical, with an oval, uneven top surface, and tapering towards a broken runner or sprue 'foot'.
