Post Medieval silver shilling of James I (1603-1625) of the Second Coinage, fourth bust. Initial mark escallop (North 2100; Spink 2655), weakness to lower portrait and in corresponding area of reverse. No obvious signs of having been clipped, but has evidence of damage caused by ploughing resulting in a curved dent towards the obverse, Most apparent on the word IACOBVS. Dates from 1606 to 1607 AD. Post Medieval silver coin, probably a William III sixpence, bent into a form commonly known as a love token. The coin appears to have been bent on more than one occasion from different angles, forming a cusp on each side. One of the cusps appears to contain indentations which may have been caused by biting it. Flat spots on the raised edges suggest it continued in circulation after being bent. Late Medieval to early Post Medieval copper alloy chafing dish handle and lug. The handle is shaped like an inverted openwork letter 'T'. The lug is still attached, with a circular rivet where it would have been attached to the chafing dish. The metal has a dark brown patina. The handle was probably cast as a single piece and finished with a file. The lug piercing appears to have been formed as a notch, then pressed or hammered closed around the handle. A cast lead alloy spindle whorl of unknown date, probably Early Medieval to Post Medieval, about AD 400 - 1600. It is Coppergate type B1 (Walton Rogers, 2007, page 25). It is discoidal with a central hole measuring 9.19mm in diameter. It is 22.64mm in diameter and 6.87mm thick on one side and 5.0mm on the opposite side. It weighs 19.3gms. The whorl has a white patina. Compare SWYOR-9909E4.

A lead cast plano-convex spindle whorl of uncertain date. It has a shallow domed face with a flat underneath. The shape of the spindle whorl corresponds with Coppergate type A1 (Walton Rogers, 2007) which were used from the 6th century. However, it may also be medieval. The lead has a pale grey patina. Compare YORYM-B717FB. The circular hole is 7.51mm with straight sides and is slightly offset to one side. Diameter 22.15mm Height 6.75mm Weight 18.3gms
