A small, domed copper alloy button with a hollow back, into which the shank, which is broken, is fixed. The face is decorated with a moulded, regular floral design, and has been gilded. The makers name is moulded around the edge on the rear of the button. It has a dark green patina.Similar buttons can be found in Read, dated to the post medieval period Dimensions: It is 15.5mm in diameter and 5.5mm thick, it weighs 2.42g

Silver plated livery button with square fastener. The button is biconvex and hollow. On the front a border is formed with a slightly raised moulding around the edge. The central image is of the head of a griffin, facing left and resting on a wreath with crossed spears behind it. The fastener is square with a central circular hole, and is moulded as part of the button. The makers name is moulded into the back of the button and is OLLIVANT. The griffin was a popular motif in heraldry, and it may be that this particular deisgn was not for a specific family but a generic design. …

Late Medieval to early Post Medieval lead alloy button. It is circular in plan and domed in section. The outer face is damaged but is decorated with what looks like a stylised floral pattern with a central raised pellet. There is the stub of a broken off attachment loop on the inner face. Dates to between c1450 and c1600 AD. Diameter 26mm, thickness 13.5mm, weight 13.5g.

Post Medieval copper alloy button, sometimes known as tombac or dandy buttons. It has a flat outer face, is circular in plan. In the centre of the rear there are the remnants of an attachment loop. The outer face is decorated with an incised pattern of dashes producing a stylised flower sprig. The button has a white metal coating, except for the remnants of the loop and its mounting. It probably dates from between c1750 and c1830 AD. The diameter is 25mm, thickness 6mm, and the weight is 4.19g.

A cast lead alloy button. It is circular in outline and slightly domed. It has a pattern moulded into it. Around the circumference are four what may be stylised thistle heads, formed of a circle-within-circle with a triangular shape with dots filling it coming out from this. An incomplete cast copper-alloy button of Post-Medieval date (c.AD 1600-1800), likely dating to the Stuart period of the seventeenth century. The button is discoidal and flat. There is a central moulded relief decoration in the form of a trefoil in white enamel, with only two petals remaining. The central raised pellet is also just an outline. Copper alloy Royal Artillery Button 1790 to 1840AD. The button is flat and circular in plan. It has a recessed shield-shaped panel at the front. The panel contains three vertically stacked cannons in relief. In a band above the cannons three bezants are separated by a stack of three cannon balls. The back has a separate soldered copper-alloy wire loop which is bent to one side. The diameter is 20mm and the weight 2.58g. Probably a copper alloy solid discoidal flat button decorated but now illegible dating 1700 - 1800AD. On the reverse the attachment loop has broken off. There are similar buttons in Bailey (9.46, 9.52 etc.) which are given an 18th century date.
