Early to mid Neolithic side scraper on a tertiary flake of grey chert. On one mesal two notches have been removed from near the distal end then the whole ventral edge has received short, parallel to sub-parallel, semi-abrupt retouch The resultant edge probably served three purposes, as a serrated blade, a notched scraper, and as a side scraper if the proximal end was favoured. The other mesal is 7.5mm thick. On its dorsal edge it has short, abrupt, sub-parallel retouch to the whole edge. The ventral edge has a series of scaled semi-invasive removals overlaid with short, abrupt, sub-parallel retouch on its middle third while the distal third has had a large removal that runs across to the dorsal edge. This last removal has served to narrow the distal end and to create a small nub between it at the removals on the middle third. This nub has had two further spalls removed, either to allow it to be used as a robust gouge/burin or to stop it causing injury when the opposing mesal was in use. The distal end has been shaped with an invasive initial removal and has then had short sub-parallel, semi-abrupt retouch. The distal end has also been modified, initially with a flake that removed the whole end, the the two ventral corners have been removed invasively, finally the sharper of the corners has been reduced with a fine invasive removal. Dates to between c4000 and c2700 BC.

Flint flake end scraper of probable Neolithic to Bronze Age date (c. 3500 - 800 BC). The flint is dark brown in colour with slight light brown mottles. It is broadly trapezoidal in shape, with one straight and one curved long edge. The longer short edge displays short, semi-abrupt, scaled retouch on the dorsal face. The ripples of percussion on the ventral face curve across the length of the object. The object is 22.50mm in length, 14.02mm in width and 4.53mm in thickness. It weighs 1.70g.

Slightly damaged polished stone axehead of Neolithic date (c. 4000 - 2350 BC). The axehead is formed from grey stone, probably Langdale tuff. The surface of the object has been weathered and is rough and pitted, to a greater degree on one side than the other. The more weathered side is also darker in colour. There is some brown surface accretion on both sides. The object is broadly rectangular in shape with a lentoid section. It widens slightly at one end and narrows into an unsymmetrically curved cutting edge. The other (butt) end is badly chipped and damaged. The object is 153.5mm in length, 70.71mm at maximum width and 37.52mm in thickness. It weighs 573g.

A complete though probably unfinished stone axehead probably a roughout of Neolithic date, c. 3500 - 2100 BC discovered below the foundations of a cottage garden wall. The axehead is possibly of the Graig Lwyd Group VII axe - the patina looks the type and the white speckles on a blue-grey matrix is typical of the rock type or it could be an epidiotised greenstone Group VI Langdale axe. The axe head is trapezoidal in plan with a pointed ovate section. The surfaces are rough with a chip to one side of the butt edge. The unpolished nature of the object suggests it was not properly finished. It was probably made in the quarries of Penmaenmawr in North Wales, of a sedimentary rock similar to slate and would have been traded south, probably along the route of the River Severn. It would have been used to create clearings within the dense prehistoric woodland to provide agricultural land, during a period in British history when people began to significantly alter the environment.
Hand axes were probably the main tool for domestic activities like chopping or breaking, and it could also be used as a weapon.
The length is 172mm, the width is 65mm thickness 18mm and the weight too heavy for scales.

A flint thumb-nail scraper of very late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age date c.2400-2100 BC. The flint is sub-rounded save for the striking platform edge. It has has short scaled abrupt retouch around the entirety of the rounded edges. The ventral face has been heavily rework to flatten the bulb of percussion with long invasive low angled retouch. Almost all the striking appears to be with heavy hammer technology. The scraper is a limid reddish yellow with mottling possibly from being exposed. Leaf-shaped Neolithic flint knife or oval side scraper dating from c. 3000-2100BC.
This object appears to have been bifacially flaked suggesting that it is a knife. However, we do not have a side view for this object (only two images were provided by the finder) so we cannot be certain. It looks to have pressure flaking on dorsal side. It was probably formed on tertiary debitage rather than a deliberate stuck core.

Two pieces of heat affected stone and iron pan found near LANCUM-177CC5, possibly a Riley Type 5 late Neolithic scraper, and probably of a similar period. Both pieces have been heat effected and exhibit signs of thermal fracture. One of the stones has orange ochre within the iron pan & this has been rubbed into concavity, possibly for use as a pigment. The stones may have been heated to make use of the ochre, or as the result of some other activity such pot boiling or cooking. The burning probably dates from the late Neolithic, c2500 to c2100 BC.
The smaller piece's length is 21mm, width 16mm, thickness 9mm.
The larger piece's length is 46mm, width 24mm, thickness 16mm.

Mid Neolithic to mid Bronze Age chert D shaped scraper. It is roughly semi-circular in plan, sub rectangular in profile, and a pointed sub oval in section. The scraper has been formed on a tertiary piece of black 'Marles' chert. The fully invasive primary working has been retouched, short, semi abrupt to abrupt, sub-parallel to random, on most edges. Dates to between c3500 and c1000 BC.
The length is 25mm, width 15mm, thickness 8mm, and the weight 4.8g.

Mesolithic to early Bronze Age worked white quartz or quartzite scraper. Its overall plan is D shaped, with the straight edge being the working edge. Due to the nature of it crystal structure, this material is hard to date from its working. As it bears a similarity to a D shaped scraper, it would be reasonable to assume that its most likely date of manufacture was late Neolithic to early Bronze Age. Dating to between c7000 to c1601 BC, probably to between c2700 and c1601 BC.
The length is 10mm, width 10mm, and the thickness 5mm.
