Modern copper alloy colliery workers token from the Towneley Colliery. The token is circular in plan with a suspension perforation at the apex. On the outer face there is an inscription within a circumferal beaded border which reads TOWNELEY COLLIERIES. The front has been overstamped with three digit numbers at least three times, to the point ithat it is now difficult to work out what those numbers were. On the outer face there is an inscription within a beaded border on the edge which reads; BROOKS & BROOKS COLLIERIES LTD BURNLEY The front is overstamped with 507. This is the colliery workers number. Dates to between c1923 and c1933 AD, when Brooks and Brooks took over the running of the colliery from Brooks and Pickup. Length 40mm, width 32mm, weight 4.47g.

Dates to between c1933 and c1949 AD, when the Towneley Coal & Fireclay Company, and later the National Coal Board (from 1947), had taken over the running of the colliery from Brooks and Pickup. Diameter 37mm, weight 11.34g.

Post Medieval to Modern copper alloy repurposed toy element. It is circular in plan and a flattened oval in section. It is undecorated. The object looks like the weighted disc from a small toy gyroscope or spinning top. The original central perforation used to orignally attach the disc to the toy has been modified to a keyhole shape. The purpose of the modified object is unknown, but it may have served as a suspended weight or as a type of toy. Dates to between c1850 and c1970 AD. Diameter 34mm, thickness 8mm, and the weight is 33.60g.

Modern painted metal cross-like object. The metal is probably spelter or a lead alloy. It has a black surface treatment, probably something like an enamel paint. Two coterminous pieces have survived, the rest of the object is lost. The central element of both pieces is a raised decoration in the form of the staff of Thoth, the ancient Egyptian often depicted with the head of an ibis and carrying an ankh and the staff shown on the cross. Copper alloy object probably a coin. There are a number of coins that have been produced in the world with holes in the centre. There is not a lot of detail remaining but it is reminiscent of a British West Africa coin with the scrollwork and hint of arabic legend from the 20th century of a type that circulated in the British colonies of Gambia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and the Gold Coast (Ghana). A copper alloy pub token from the Sun Inn Preston. It is a circular token with a representation of the sun on one side - a circular face with rays radiating outwards in all directions part way to a pelleted borderaround the circumference of the token. The other side has the same pelleted border around the circumference and the legend: SUN INN PRESTON around the border and MAIN SPIRIT WEIND across the centre. The Sun Inn was in business from around 1790 to 1940 and this token probably dates from the latter part of the 19th century. Dimeter 24mm, Thickness 1mm, Weight 2.9g.
