Openwork symmetrical bronze mount. Central design of adjoining opposed C's decorated with incised lines each containing an openwork 'eye'. Perforated oval projection to either. Flat on the back. Resembles a face with prominent eyes if positioned vertically. Decorated in abstract Ringerike-style motifs and, as such, broadly 11th century in date.

Small late 8th/early 9th century Viking lead weight into which has been inserted a piece of Irish, Scottish or Pictish metalwork of an 'Insular Art' style. While the weight itself was made from cast lead, the piece of inserted metalwork was made from cast cu-alloy which was subsequently gilded (small fragments of gilding remain in the grooves of the carved decoration). The decoration of the cu-alloy inlaid piece is fragmentary and seems to have been part of an ornamental interlacing, probably floral scrollwork border with a thinner, hatched border underneath.

Cast cu-alloy mount, possibly silvered. There are two large rectangular loops on the reverse, as well as a two smaller pierced lugs. The obverse is very corroded and much of the cast(?) decoration is lost. The centrepiece, held in place by a rivet(?) is missing, but there are very faint remains of intricate zoomorphic design (?) on the outer rim. Also, parts of silvering remain.

Cast copper-alloy sword pommel of the hollow cast 'lobed' type. It is an elongated oval in plan (i.e. viewed from below) with two opposing faces that are subtriangular. It is semicircular in cross-section. The slot for the handle is oval. It consists of five curved lobes, all of them hollow, increasing in height towards the centre. Cast cu-alloy knotted finger ring dating from early Medieval-Modern times. It was made from one long square-sectioned wire of cu-alloy which was twisted in itself in places. The decoration on and around the bezel consists of two knots tied into each other and around the hoop with another knot tied around the hoop on either side - thus, four knots in all. The wire was only twisted in the loops of the knots, but not the hoop. Knotteds finger rings are very difficult to date. Copper-alloy strap-end of Thomas's Type A (dating from the early medieval period, i.e. the 9th century AD. The strap end is complete except for the very end of the animal-head terminal, which is missing. The attachment end is shaped into two rounded lobes with a rivet hole in each one. The two small square-headed rivets are still in place, made from a copper alloy which is of a more greenish colour than the rest of the strap-end. This report concerns a hoard of Anglo-Saxon silver pennies found on farmland near Preston, Lancs on March 14th, 2010. The coins were discovered by Alan Reynolds, while metal detecting. This report concerns three items found near Carnforth in Lancashire in 2010. The items were found close to the find-spot of a Viking hoard discovered in 1997 (TAR 1998-1999, no. 84), and it was considered possible that the new finds might be stray finds from that hoard. Two of the finds are undiagnostic. Both appear to be a fairly base silver or lead alloy. An almost complete copper-alloy early Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch dating to the 5th or 6th century AD. The headplate is rectangular and measures 22mm in length and 21mm in width. Silver ingot fragment and fragment of white metal casting debris from the Carnforth area, Lancashire The find consists of two items: a) a fragment of a silver ingot; and b) what appears to be a molten fragment of casting debris. Fragment of a possible cast copper alloy strap end of early medieval date, possibly 9th century AD. Possibly Middle or Late Saxon, Thomas Class A. Only the upper part and part of the two misaligned rivet holes survives. It would have probably had a split-end, convex sides and possibly an animal head terminal, but it is too worn and damaged now to discern its original features. It appears that the obverse was decorated with moulded rather than niello or inlaid decoration. There is no trace of a rectangular central plate and the animal/beast was moulded just below the two rivet holes.

Probably a whetstone dating from the early medieval period. The object is roughly rectangular in shape and has a rectangular cross section. The surface on one side is rougher than on the other three sides which are very smooth. There are two parallel 'cuts' around the top part of the object which is where a string may have been attached to it. There is no evidence of a perforation.
