Object type: WEIGHT
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Isle of Anglesey
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A trapezoid weight. The weight is made of lead. At the apex is a small perforation which would have been used to suspend the weight. Given the flat base, the weight could have also been used freestanding. There is no decoration present on the weight. Lead weights are difficult to date and have remained relatively unchanged through from the Roman to Post Medieval period. This likely is either a steelyard or free-standing weight.

A coin of Roman date, probably a radiate or nummus, AD 260-402. Both the obverse and reverse of the coin are worn making it difficult to identify conclusively. The reverse appears to depict a standing figure, possibly Salus/Spes/Pietas holding an infant(s). If this is the case then the obverse will show Helena/Fausta/Theodora, dating the coin more specifically to between AD324-341, however it is difficult to say conclusively due to the coins condition.
