A silver medieval farthing of John, class 5b-c, dating to 1205-1210. Uncertain moneyer, Norwich or Northampton mint. The coin is heavily damaged, missing the upper right quarter of the flan when viewed from the obverse, and much of the bottom right quarter as well. The legend of the obverse is no longer present, and little detail can be made of the bust apart from the central beard pellet and hair curls. The reverse legend reads: ‘NO’ suggesting Norwich or Northampton and thus likely class 5b-c Dimensions: Diameter 18.1mm, Weight 0.75g.
