An incomplete copper alloy awl of uncertain date.  Description: The awl is sub-triangular in profile and sub-rectangular in cross-section, having flat sides and bevelled corners. Each side of the widest end of the awl is cut through approximately 1/3 of the awl's thickness, at an angle, to leave in place a rectangular shaft, which also finishes at a slight angle, for fitting into a handle. Description: The strap end has been made from three slightly tapering plates of copper-alloy hammered together. The crude decoration incised on the front of the strap is very unclear, but appears to be a debased zoomorphic head at the terminal. There is also an incised circle containing five dots. A fragment of cast copper-alloy bronze age object, probably South Eastern type socketed axehead, dating to the period c.1000 - 800BC. Description: The fragment is roughly L-shaped in profile, with the surviving outside edges being heavily polished and slightly convex.
