The brooch is fragmentary and quite an unusual brooch. The bow head is a flat triangular shape. However the edges are heavily abraded so this may not be the original size and shape. The outer surface of the bow head has three cells. The lower cell is triangular and filled with a green coloured substance, possibly originally a red enamel. ///obliquely angled either side of the triangular cell is a sub elongated pointed oval cell, both with traces of a green substance, again possibly red enamel. The lower edge of the bow head has a horizontal ridge. This ridge has fine, parallel vertical…

The brooch was probably originally circular in plan. However, the edges of it are now heavily abraded and the brooch is a sub-oval shape in plan. The upper surface of the brooch has a circular central cell within a high relief annulet. The field outside of the annulet is a circular ring shaped cell which is incompletely filled with red enamel. The reverse of the brooch is undecorated and has the remains of parrellel lugs on one edge, and a single lug opposite, which was probably originally the catchplate. The patina is a light green colour.

The bow head is hump-likeand decorated with a central 'W' profilewhich continues along the bow. Either side of this central decoration there is a column of low-relief rings. The bow is semi-circular in section, except for the ridge on the reverse which develops int…

Six clay pipe stems with a small part of the bowl remaining, dating from c. 1720-1820 (average diameter of stem: 8mm; collective weight: 20.23g). Each of these fragments has either a complete, slightly broken or missing spur below where the bowl meets the stem. Slightly different spur points may indicate that the pipes were made in local and different production centres (Cleverdon, 1995, 13).
