Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Dudley

In plan the chape is shaped like the lower portion of a droplet. The lower edge however is broken and abraded, and the upper edge, which is a broken, horizontal edge is also abraded. One face is flat with possible incised decoration. The decoration is possible a row of X's. Below is a horizontal low-relief line. There are patches of patina around the decoration which has been lost elsewhere on the object. The reverse is undecorated, but has a lip around the side edges, which stops at the broken edges.
