A wheel-thrown base (and side) sherd of probable Mancetter-Hartshill mortaria (54mm x 56mm with a thickness of 11.5mm at the edge of the base; weight: 45.79g). The sherd has a fine-textured and powdery fabric with an off-white core and inclusions of fine quartz and occasional red-brown and white particles grit. The grit seems to be fairly worn which may indicate that the vessel was used to a fair extent. The sherds are two rim fragments and a body sherd. Both rims are a '¬' shape in rofile with rounded outer edge. The fabric is a mottled red/brown coloured fabric on the surfaces with a lighter coloured cores. The inclusions are frequent quartz like with a red stone, and mica.
