A small piece of kiln furniture or 'spacer', sub circular in shape (40.8mm x 39.2mm; thickness: 12.1mm; weight:23.76g). This piece would have been used to fill or plug any spaces in the kiln, and would have had glazed material on top and around it, hence the glazing down the sides of the 'spacer'. There is more than one definite edge, with one broken edge, as well as the probable remains of a fingerprint on one of the surfaces.
This 'spacer' dates between the late 16th - early 18th century.

A roughly hand made circular ceramic piece of kiln furniture or 'spacer' (diameter: 60.9mm; thickness: 15.2mm; weight: 53.85g). This 'spacer' would have been used to fill or plug any gaps in the kiln during the firing process. There are some areas of light brown glaze that have run down the sides of the piece, presumably from the glazed vessels above or to the side. There are two clear finger marks on the smoother surface of the piece.
This piece of kiln furniture or 'spacer' probably dates to the late 16th - early 18th century.
