The upper surface of the brooch has a circular central cell within a high relief annulet. The field outside of the annulet is a circular ring shaped cell which is incompletely filled with red enamel. The reverse of the brooch is undecorated and has the remains of parrellel lugs on one edge, and a single lug opposite, which was probably originally the catchplate. The patina is a light green colour.
