A fragment of a Roman copper alloy Colchester derivative Polden Hill brooch cf. Mackreth 2011, CD PH 4.b, probably dating to AD 80-175. The fragment consists of the head only, with the bow lost to an old break. The head expands transversely into a semi-cylindrical wings, open on the reverse and with closed caps at either end. A fragment of Roman T-shaped Brooch, dating to c. AD 50 - 150. The wings, the hinged pin mechanism and top of the bow only remain and are mostly covered by corrosion. The wings are cylindrical in cross section and decorated with vertical ridges at the ends. The wings house the axis bar for the hinged pin. The bent remnant of the pin is still attached in the groove between the wings at the rear. The tapering bow is curved and a slightly and any decoration is no longer visible. A near complete copper alloy harness fitting of Iron Age date, c. 250-150 BC. The object is a form of terret, sub-circular in plan with a straightened attachment bar. This bar is more clearly and consistently cylindrical in cross section, and its ends are marked with bulbous circular studs. An incomplete Roman copper alloy developed T-shaped hinged brooch probably dating to AD75 - 150. Only the wings and upper part of the bow remain. The wings are chipped at each end but nearly complete and have a pattern across the front of a single incised diagonal line about halfway along and a pair of incised lines at the end. A twisted, but complete medieval copper-alloy probable buckle plate (c. 13th century). The plate is sub-rectangular, and terminates in a protruding zoomorphic head. It is folded at the frame end; the frame is missing. There is a central cut out for the pin. The fold is short to the reverse, truncated at the first of two rivet holes; it also tapers to its end on that face, giving it a trapezoidal shape. A complete copper-alloy swivel strap fitting of medieval date c. 1200-1400. The fitting comprises a pair of D-shaped loops which are connected in such a way that they can each swivel. Each loop has with zoomorphic heads biting a central internal boss. The heads have prominent brows and expanded jaws. One of the bosses has an integral bolt that emerges from the centre of its base, the bolt narrower than the base of the boss.
