One sherd of coarseware. The fabric is reduced dark grey at the core with oxidised margins (orange on the exterior and buff on the interior). There is abundant rounded quartz sand temper with occasional iron rich pieces. The surfaces appear wiped. A slightly everted rim sherd from a thick-walled jar. The rim has a thumb-impressed "pie-crust" exterior edge. The form is recorded in the Wessex Archaeology Black Burnished Ware type series as WA Type 12 (Seagar-Smith & Davies, 1993, p. 232-233, Figure 123). A body sherd of Roman Gaulish Samian Ware, dating to the period c.AD 40-200. The fabric is hard, pink-orange in colour and consistently fired. Both the inner and outer surfaces are coated with a hard and glossy orange/red slip which is abraded in places. The breaks are worn. The fabric is fine and sandy, with well sorted, sparse brown inclusions. The sherd measures 15.84mm in length, 10.82mm in width, 2.29mm in thickness and weighs 0.73g. A sherd of Oxfordshire fineware mortarium. The fabric is hard fired and sandy with sparse small black and red iron ore inclusions, occasional lumps of chalk and is micaceous (Young 1977, 123). It is oxidised orange at the margins with a grey core. The internal surface is covered in rounded pink quartz triturations (up to 2.5 mm). A base sherd. The sherd is abraded.
