A medieval silver penny of William I (1066-1087), 'Two stars' type (North 845; BMC v) dating to c.AD 1074-1077, moneyer and mint unclear (blundered inscription). Ref: North 1994: 191. The coin has a crack from the edge between 11 and 12 o'clock to about the centre of the flan. The mint and moneyer for the coin are uncertain with the inscription difficult to read and quite garbled. A pierced post-medieval silver penny of Charles II (1660-1685). Milled coinage (Spink 3390), dated 1681 (on coin). Mint of London. Spink (2008, 322). It measures 11.55mm in diameter, 0.54mm in thickness and weighs 0.38g. The coin has been pierced at 8 o'clock on the obverse; the piercing goes from the obverse to reverse and is circular in shape. It was possibly to convert the coin into a jewellery item. The coin has also been bent slightly at its circumference.
