A sheet copper alloy spirally rolled rivet. The rivet is made from a lozenge-shaped piece of copper alloy sheet rolled to form a cone. The remaining point is folded into the wide end and the head formed by a slight splaying at this end. Such rivets were used to repair copper alloy vessels. This example is similar to a number found in London and dated to the late 15th to late (or mid?) 16th centuries (Egan 2005: 101, although such rivets are observed to have continued in use into the 18th century (ibid). A unused rolled sheet copper-alloy rivet of the Medieval to post-Medieval periods. The rivet is cone shaped, with a flattened, sub-circular head. The rivet was made from a lozenge-shaped piece of copper-alloy sheet, the corners being folded and rolled into the current shape. Rolled rivets of this type are frequently used on medieval skimmers and a variety of materials.

A copper alloy sheet metal repair rivet for a vessel from the Medieval to early-post-Medieval periods, circa mid 15th to 16th century. It is sub-rectangular in plan. The patch has been constructed from a lozenge-shaped sheet, with the opposing ends folding inwards towards the centre and then the pointed ends were passed through the split and folded back. A seam runs longitudinally and the top has been flattened to one side, there is a small long rectangular indent into the top of the rivet and the inside appears to be hollow.
