A solid-cast lead-alloy cylinder of uncertain date. The object has some linear scoring and has a silky white patina. Height 17.99 mm Diameter 14.26 mm. Weight 26 grams. Possibly a form of musket shot or unofficial lead weight. I believe shot similar to this was used during the Civil War period.

A Post Medieval musket ball dating from c.AD 1600- AD 1800. The musket ball is 'banded' i.e. it is flattened in a band around the circumference. There are pronounced linear striations at right angles to the band, probably caused as the ball travelled down the gun barrel. The patina is a pale gray in colour.

A Post Medieval musket ball dating from c.AD 1600- AD 1800. The musket is flattened on one side as a result of impact, but was originally spherical in form. There are also two deep grooves on the surface; this may have been caused by being pushed down the barrel with a tool, or may be deliberate burring to the surface. The patina is a pale gray in colour.
