A cast copper-alloy object of probable later medieval or post-medieval date: probably a figurine. The object is moulded on the upper surface; the lower surface is flat. The figurine would appear anthropomorphic, but with arms truncated at the elbows and without a head! Longitudinal ridges on the upper surface are suggestive of drapery. A possible foot appears separated while the other is closer in to the body. The lower surface features a number of slightly wavy transverse lines. At the 'head' end is a small, somewhat off-centre hole into which a rivet on a seperate object might …

Copper alloy human head. This is an incomplete object and it is not possible to be certain what it was part of. It may have been a figurine or a a decorative element from a more functional object (e.g. a dagger handle, lynch pin terminal etc.). The head is three dimensional and decorated in the round. The top of the head is flattened into a sub-circular plane. The face is oval with a shallow, sloped forehead. Below this are the deeply recessed, pointed oval eyes. The nose is cast in relief and is triangular in shape (point upwards)and slopes at the same angle as the forehead. Below th…

A cast copper alloy head, of probable late Iron Age date. It measures 19.26mm in height, 14.90mm ear to ear and weighs 17.18g. It may have once formed part of a small figurine. The head has uneven hollow eyes with defined semi-circular brows above and a straight nose. The ears are low and D-shaped, defined by a semi-circle to the rear and hollowed inside. The mouth is an assymmetric upturned crescent shape and the chin tapers to a rounded point, giving the face an almond shape overall. The top and back of the head has been engraved with twelve concentric swirls, to give the impression …

An incomplete gilt copper alloy Corpus Christi (body of Christ crucified) figurine. The head, upper torso and partial arms survive. The arms are raised so that the missing hands were above the head. The head projects forwards and is slightly tilted to the figure's right. Behind the head is a circular nimbus or halo decorated with three arms of an equal armed cross. The head and face are well modeled with details of the eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows, beard and hair clearly rendered. The hair falls in coiled locks onto both shoulders and is waved from a mid line on the crown. The back beh…

An incomplete lead Roman anthropomorphic figurine of a female deity dating to the period c. AD 43 - 410. The figurine depicts a semi-naked female and is missing the head, right arm, lower left arm, lower right leg and left foot. The figure is standing in a contrapposto stance with a nude torso. The remaining fragment of the left arm is held away from the body and pointing downwards. The break point of the right arm suggests that it was pointing upwards. The moulded torso is indistinct with an incised belly button and drapery gathered below the hips and falling down the left leg. The l…
