A large secondary flint flake with a small area of retouch in the middle of one edge. Mid grey to pale grey and white mottled flint with a low gloss patina. There is a very small area of nodule cortex on the dorsal face at the distal end. The Proximal end has been snapped off. The flaking scars on the dorsal face indicate the flake results from blade production and the it also has the trapeziodal cross section associated with this. There is a small area of pressure flake retouch on the right edge on the ventral face. Date: Neolithic (probably) 3500 - 2100 BC Dimensions: 70 mm x 33…

A piece of flint debitage of Mesolithic to Neolithic date (c. 7000 - 3500 BC) in the form of a flake. The flake is struck off a tertiary flake and retains no original cortex. The dorsal surface exhibits two parallel negative flake scars from previous blade removal. A small striking platform is present at its proximal end. The ventral surface exhibits a small, low bulb of percussion but no conchoidal ripple marks are present. Retouch is in the form of invasive, abrupt, parallel flake removal from one of the negative flake scars on the dorsal face. The flake has been recorticated due to…

An irregular retouched primary flake, probably of Mesolithic or Neolithic date, c. 11000-2600 BC. Part of a larger assemblage of flint, see also: WILT-19B371; WILT-196E52; WILT-19C816; WILT-19212E; WILT-185746; WILT-17D77C; WILT-17714B The flake appears to be incomplete, with a large proportion of the flake lost to a recent break. The flint is brown-grey, patinated white on one face. The proximal end does not survive, and the conchoidal ripples are very diffuse. The flake exhibits little indication of deliberate knapping with the exception of a clear line of short, parallel abrup…

A retouched tertiary flake of opaque mid grey flint with a low-gloss patina. The flake retains the remnant of a small striking platform and low bulb of percussion at the proximal end. The bulb has been largely obscured by a bulbar scar. There are widely spaced waves of percussion on the ventral face. There are three parallel flake removal scars on the dorsal face creating a trapeziodal cross section. There is abrupt retouch along one long edge and partially around the distal end which has been struck from the ventral face. There is post depositional damage to the distal end. Dimensio…
