Object type: MOUNT
Broad period: UNKNOWN

Silver ring, possibly a finger ring. The band is wide, undecorated and has an inward facing D-shaped cross section. The fact that the ring has a convex internal surface suggests that it may not be a finger ring.
Undiagnostic Description: silver band, probably a fitting, with undecorated surface. The interior of the fitting is convex, indicating that this is indeed a fitting rather than a finger-ring. Discussion: There are no diagnostic features to the fitting, therefore it is not possible to conclusively date the fitting.

Object type: MOUNT
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Dorset
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A gilt-copper-alloy mount of uncertain date. The mount is of flat section and broadly pelta-shaped in plan, having a shallower indentation on one side than on the other. The central projection has a squared-off end. Perimeter grooves exist on both sides of the piece; however, these grooves only extend along two of the three edges. There is an in situ copper-alloy rivet with domed head, located at the centre of the piece. The curvature of the mount suggests it once fitted to a rounded object, such as a helmet. The side with the deeper curvature has a transverse crack.

A perforated lead-alloy weight of uncertain (suggested Roman to medieval) date.
