A Post Medieval gold finger ring. A posy ring with the internal inscription Let vertue be thy guide in italic lettering. There is no maker’s or other mark. The hoop has a D-shaped cross section and is slightly distorted into an oval shape. Dimensions: 21.70 mm x 2.25 mm x 0.80 mm Weight: 1.78 g This inscription is common on rings from the later 17th to mid-18th century. Judy Rudoe of the British Museum has noted that in the absence of a makers mark there is insufficient evidence to confirm that the ring was over 300 years old when fond in 2021 (pers comm 18/11/2022).

A gold finger ring with internal inscription. The hoop is narrow and D-shaped in cross section. It is slightly misshapen.The concave exterior face is largely undecorated save for an section of incised recesses and line comprising a pair of circular recesses with a downward V shaped recess between and feather like lines around (this has an owl-like appearance). . A gold finger ring with diamond setting dating to the medieval period. The ring has a square bezel the front of which rises evenly in a four sided pyramid the top point of which is formed by the four sided diamond embedded in the bezel. The diamond is probably a natural octahedra crystal and appears slightly grey in the setting. The four facets on the front of the bezel have horizontal striations from filing/hammering and are even in plane with the sides of the diamond. Silver gilt finger ring with intaglio inlaid in the bezel. The bezel is formed of an octagon with exaggerated points, creating an 8 pointed star with a plain upper surface. At its centre is a possibly crystal intaglio, this is recessed from the front with an angled side to the setting.
