Copper alloy strap end. Cast zoomorphic strap end with a beast head terminal. The strap end comprises two plates, each with a central, circular plate, a narrowed projecting strip at one side and a zoomorphic projection opposite. The strip is rounded and expanded at the end, pierced and retains a dome-headed copper alloy rivet. An incomplete Medieval copper alloy plate, possibly part of a strap end, dating to c AD 1250 - 1450. What remains is a rectangle of sheet metal with an early break at one end and straight edge at the other with two rivets, one in each corner, still extant. The plate has a stamped impression of a shield with lion rampant, just beneath the break. The field around the lion is decorated with a random scatter of pellets.

A copper alloy strap end. The strap end is composed of two plates which both taper gradually towards a pointed terminal. An additional strip of copper alloy is sandwiched between the two plates at the pointed end and extends approximately half way up the length of the object. A pierced hole through both plates indicates the position of a single rivet at the flat end and a single rivet remains in place at the pointed end. The strap end is undecorated and the surfaces are corroded.

An incomplete Medieval copper alloy strap end dating to AD 1200 - 1350. Ony the upper half of the strap survives with the, presumably tongue shaped, terminal lost to a transverse break.
It consists of two of the rectangular plates separated by slit filled with light brown sometimes white material potentially fabric. These are held together by two circular rivets placed in two opposite corners.
The plates are undecorated and a medium glossy green colour.
The strap end is 22mm long, 20.7mm wide, 3.5mm thick and weighs 4.11 grams.

An incomplete copper-alloy medieval probable strap end, dating to the period c. AD 1250-1400. Only one plate remains, which is trapezoidal in plan. The narrowed terminal exhibits a worn break and is curved slightly upwards. An iron rivet is present towards the wider terminal, and one side of the plate exhibits iron corrosion. A green patina covers most of the surface, and the object is undecorated.
It measures 25.29mm in length, 12.19mm in width at the wider terminal, 7.29mm in width at the narrower terminal, and 0.96mm in thickness, and weighs 1.47g.

The strap end is sub-rectangualr in plan, with a grooved aperture at the attachment and and a pointed knop at the terminal. The strap end comprises of two copper alloy sheet plates affixed to a central copper alloy forked spacer, probably with solder. Two separate copper alloy rivets survive at the attachment end.

A probably complete Medieval cast copper alloy forked spacer for a composite strap end, dating to c.AD 1280 to 1420. It has a plain acorn knop with a collar dividing the acorn element from the two prongs. It measures 13.3 mm in length and 7.6 mm in width at the point of maximus expansion. The prongs are flat and rectangular in cross section and measure 2.0 mm in width. One prong measures 23.8 mm in length and the other one 18.6 mm. The front face is decorated with an incised line design of a dolphin gripping a vine-like object in its mouth, there is the suggestion of a further set of dorsal fines to the right of the dolphin, suggesting that this shows two dolphins addorsed (back to back). The strap end is tongue shaped in plan, terminating in a squat knop and made of two sheets of copper alloy with the backplate at the terminal end only; the two plates are held together by a crudely punched, seperately made copper alloy rivet. An incomplete copper alloy composite strap end dating to 1200-1500. The object is the front plate of the strap end which would have been formed by two sheets. It is tongue shaped with an incurved upper edge and a central pointed knop at the other end. There are two insitu rivets at the attachment end situated in either corner and a central triangular hole is punched inbetween. There is no visible decoration but one of the surfaces shows fine hatching, probably to aid attachment to the spacer.

An incomplete medieval (probably 14th century AD) copper alloy composite strap end. The strap end would have been formed by a central spacer and two sheets. This item is one of those sheets. It has a small centrally placed rivet hole at the attachment end and a very small pointed knop at the other. The attachment end exhibits a concave edge just above the rivet hole. There is no decoration, but one of the surfaces shows fine hatching, probably to aid attachement to the spacer. Incomplete copper alloy hooked strap end with complete hook but missing the opposite end where the rivet holes would have been to attach the hook to an item of clothing. The upper face of the tag is inlaid silver wire that has been fired into the green enamel which has since slightly worn away leaving the wire to sit proud of the surface. The strap-end comprises two tongue-shaped plates of equal size which are held together by an in situ copper-alloy rivet, located at the top right-hand corner. The two corresponding rivet holes at the top left-hand corner are empty. The plates have a flat top side; the long sides are also straight and converge to a rounded bottom point.
The object has a length of 28.70 mm, a tapered width of 15.49 mm to 7.50 mm, a thickness of 0.68mm and weighs 2.288 grams.

A copper alloy Medieval strap end front plate from a compeosite strap end dating to the period c. AD 1275 - 1425. The plate is rectangular in shape with two angled projections that slope inwards towards a central semi-circular cut out notch at one end. Each of these projections contains a small circular copper alloy rivet (1.95mm in diameter), that projects both above and below the surface of the object. Thetwo plates are of equal form, being sub-rectangular and having a scallop-shaped terminal with pointed knop at the base. A single rivet in the terminal joins the two sheetstogether( there is no spacer), and a single rivet to the attachment end would have secured the strap. Both rivets are of copper alloy.
